Tag-a-long 2022
Venue: Various
More Details: outback-aa-au.org
Organiser & Contact Details: Tag-a-long Committee / 0436 464 633
To all travellers please keep your eye on the weather and road reports before leaving where you are as some roads are cut in particular between Dirranbandi and Hebel.
Come and enjoy the wide open spaces and changing terrain as we travell our beautiful outback. As you will notice a lot of the country is what we call Mulga country with a fair bit of Gidgee as well, Gidgee has a very disstinct scent that comes off it after rain.

Hi my name is Alison and I am an alcoholic. My husband John is on the tag a long and has decided to continue for the whole trip. However, he only took 2 weeks of medication with him. He is talking about driving all the way home from Mitchell to Caloundra just to pick up more. I am wondering if there is a member who lives somewhere along the route (but where you will be in 2 weeks time) that I could post medicine to, to save him the extra 1000 km coming home and returning would add. He only has internet spasmodically at the moment, thats why I am contacting you on his behalf. Alternately is there someone who he can discuss this with who is also actually with the tag along?
G’day Alison,
My name is Ron J (Admin) for the Website, thank you for your email, is it possible for you to send his scripts to the Mitchell pharmacy or the Charleville Pharmacy he would then be able to pick them up while either in Mitchell or Charleville as we will be in both of these locations and it would save him all the fuel and time. This what I personally had to do myself on a previous Tag.

I am heading out on Saturday, June 18 to join the Tag-aa-long in Morven from Mount Coolum, I could take them out to him if you get them to me.

G’day Joe what flyer are you talking about?
The Tag a long flyer
G’day Joe go to the website click on the image then it will bring up the flyer scroll down there is a page headed “Accommodation/Camping” with a reasonable list of places for camping at all stops. It will be announced at each event where the next place will be and what is intended.

I am a member of several travel related groups on Facebook, and have also made enquiries from other sources, regarding the floods and access to Lightning Ridge via St George, as it appears that this route is now impractical for me, I need to know, when and how to team up with the tag in St George. As I am unable to leave before the 8th and to divert via Moree would add an extra day to my Journey
G’day Joe, may I suggest that you give StGeorge a miss and head for Mitchell as StGeorge is just a one night stop over and people catch up at a parking spot over the weir about 2-3Klms.
camping places for Mitchell are nominated on the flyer

I am thinking of joining the tagalong at Morven, is there a caravan park with a cabin I can rent in Morven that will put me close to the meeting. I am travelling by car. I would like to tag along to Charleville also and would need accommodation there. Any suggestions. Thanks,
Don C.
G’day Don, mate if you go to the website -outback-aa-au.org- you can download the flyer and on the front page there are details for the Pick-A-Box Motel which is in the same street as the rally venue.

Hi Ron,
all I can find is a list of lacalities with dates, bnut no mention of places to stay.
G’day Phil, you are not thick and I apologise for wrong drumming you. If you go to the website and scroll down events to the Lightning Ridge flyer and click on it and go to the bottom of the page you will see a section with accommodation places and parks . Some stay at the venue (Lorne Station) others spread out all over the Town.
If I can be of any further assistance please call me on 0428 548 217.

I would love to join but have one problem, no car. Based in Brisbane. Do people take long term hitchhikers? Will pitch in for fuel etc. All the camping gear and a pretty wicked cook to boot.
G’day Matt, the only thing I can suggest is if you can find your way to Lightning Ridge you would be able to put that question to the taggers that are there and see what sort of response you get.

I am in Perth and plan to leave in May to drive to Victoria to spend time with my daughter and grandchildren. Then drive to lightening Ridge to start the tag a long for 6 months. I am a friend of Vicki in Victoria. I am 34 year sober on April 10 and am also in Alanon for many years. I have a VW Transporter Van. Let me know if there are things I need to know or do before I join you
Basicly it is as the layout on the web, the only thing that has happened is there is a caution notice between Hebel and Duranbandi for road works.

Seriously considering joining 2022 tag along. Have you dates for individual towns or meetings.
Can’t wait still not over this years.
G’day Tok, great to hear that you are looking forward to the Tag 2022. Heard you had some medical procedure on your travels, hope all is on the mend.
